Ronald Araujo - The New Puyol ?

Unstoppable, Powerful - Ronald Araujo

Ronald Araujo - The New Puyol?

The article shows the pure belief I have on Ronald Araujo to be successful at FC Barcelona and become the heir to throne of Carles Puyol. Only Culers know what this article means to them...

With the latest performances from the FC Barcelona team, there are several players who have outperformed themselves and made themselves a true Culers. Ronald Araujo is one of them. Muscular, fast, lightening reflexes, Ronald Araujo basically reminds us of Carles Puyol. I can't help it but I do see lot of similarities between him and Carles Puyol.

I, for sure, know that all Culers know who was Carles Puyol, but let me just give me my side of who Puyol was!

Who was Puyol ? Indeed Who?

This is Carles Puyol we are talking about. One of the best defenders to ever walk the universe of Football.

Carles Puyol can only be defined by his trophies, his leadership skills and most notably, his aggressive tackling. He was the defender who always used to give 100% on as well as off the pitch. He is a inspiration to me as well as all the fellow Culers. He made his debut for Barcelona on 2nd October 1999 and he quickly become the favorite of Culers. He was crucial on the dominance of Barcelona in Spanish as well as European Football throughout 2000's.

Believe me when I say, he was a true sportsman and one of the best motivators for the team that won the Sextuple (6 trophies in a year). This blog is not at all sufficient to cover what Carles Puyol has done for FC Barcelona. I would definitely write another blog on just Carles Puyol and the Sextuple winning team of 2009-2010.

Why is there a resemblance of Carles Puyol  in Ronald Araujo?

I have started asking myself this question each time Ronald Araujo goes for a tackle!

He has been a stone wall or we can say "Great Wall of Barcelona". He has been instrumental as well as exceptional in the Barcelona's campaign till now. He has intercepted crucial passes, blocked sensational shots, defended on one on one situations against one of the best wingers in the world... The list continues but he shows humility, humbleness and confident behavior on as well as off the pitch. Does it remind you of someone, Culers?

This season, Barcelona is able to keep the most clean sheets and have only conceded 8 goals. The best defense right now in European Football belongs to Barcelona. Thanks to Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Marcos Alonso, Andreas Christensen, Alex Balde and Jordi Alba. Once again, the first name when we Culers think of Defense in current season is Ronald Araujo. He is counted as number one aggressive defender this season. Does it again ring a bell? It certainly does to me...

He can dribble, as evidenced by the time he dribbled past Real Madrid Centre back Rudiger  (💪). He displayed amazing strength. He is defending against other defenders as a right-wing back would. In addition, he is not afraid to take risks. He frequently takes up the ball from Barcelona's lower half, effortlessly gliding past opponents before passing the ball to the midfield quartet of Busquets, Gavi, Pedri, and Frenkie De Jong. This rings a bell too...

Now let's talk about some statistics which define who Ronald Araujo is !

In Laliga, Ronald Araujo has a total of 76 blocks which makes it an average of 1.46 blocks per 90 mins and 89% pass completion. Not only this, in terms of progressive passes, he has an average of 3.40 per 90 mins.

Though there is a certain room for improvement, but he has established himself as one of the strongest defenders. It is only a matter of time, he becomes one of the greatest FC Barcelona player. One of the reports from a Spanish Media says that Ronald Araujo has the intention to become the captain of the team. There is definitely some similarity for sure...

Conclusion

We all know that Ronald Araujo has the potential to be great if he keeps his enthusiasm for FC Barcelona alive and turns that into exceptional performances. I have no doubt that he will succeed in realizing his dreams. I can see him climbing to throne to become the "Next Puyol"

Would also request you to share your thoughts on the same here in the comments section. Lets try to create a community which believes in our players and show unconditional support towards the club.
